Your Yoga class

What to expect

At the beginning of class we will spend a few minutes quietly bringing the mind into focus with a centring practice bringing ourselves into the present moment.

We will also practice a limbering session to warm the muscles and loosen the joints to prepare the body for our Yoga session

We will practice a variety of Yoga asanas to help stretch and tone the body bringing mobility and length into the spine.

We may practice simple breathing exercises and/ or meditation

We will finish with a short relaxation to allow the body to rest and absorb the full effects of our yoga session. Relaxation helps the body to recover, lowering respiration and pulse rate allowing us to feel rested and rejuvenated.

Yoga is not just about what we do, it's about what we experience so I will invite you to observe, to notice and become self-aware throughout the practice.

Yoga Philosophy may be weaved through the lessons and often there is a theme or a central message to the class.

What to bring to your yoga class

A Yoga mat, strap and/or blocks if you have them

A blanket or extra clothing for relaxation

A cushion or pillow to put under your head or to pad the knees

A drink of water

Some of the physical benefits of a regular yoga practice

Yoga can increase energy levels and circulation, build stamina, strength and flexibility and can increase muscle tone.

Yoga improves posture, breathing capacity and can improve digestion

Other benefits include improvement of concentration and mental focus, help in relieving anxiety, stress and tension and can help to manage sleep problems

  • Your practice doesn’t expect you to show up happy. It asks that you be present.

It doesn’t mind if you are put together, or if you are a mess. You can arrive with a jumbled mind and a heavy heart. Your practice couldn’t care less if you can touch your toes or meditate for hours. It asks simply, that you show up."
